Socialist Ideas: Marxism and the Environment March 5th

Socialist Ideas: Marxism and the Environment
7PM TUESDAY 5 MARCH BRISBANE ACTIVIST CENTRE
74B WICKHAM ST, FORTITUDE VALLEY (map)

The environmental crisis is the greatest threat to civilisation that humanity has ever faced. Yet why is it that governments around the world are failing to act on it? Is it because humans are just selfish by nature or is it because economic interests of powerful corporations win out over the interests of humanity as a whole? This session explores the Marxist analysis of why the environmental crisis is upon us, why capitalism is a fundamentally unsustainable economic system, and what needs to be done to run society in the interests of humanity and nature.
